I am pleased to announce the publication of the Westwinds Communities’ 2023 Annual Report, showcasing the remarkable impact of collaboration and community engagement in addressing the pressing issue of affordable housing in the Foothills region.
Throughout 2023, our community faced significant challenges in ensuring quality, affordable housing for all. Yet, amidst these trials, we discovered something extraordinary – the power of working together.
The report reflects our unwavering commitment to providing safe and affordable housing solutions. From the inauguration of Drake Towns to the implementation of the Rental Assistance Program, we touched the lives of over 110 households, easing the burden of rent and broadening access to homes for those in need.
But our efforts didn’t stop there. We embarked on ambitious projects, such as the development of below-market rental units in Okotoks, to ensure that families, couples, singles, and seniors all had a place to call home. Through proactive approaches and the support of grants, we turned these visions into reality.
The year was not without its challenges. From resource constraints to the ongoing pandemic, we faced obstacles head-on. Yet, with the unwavering support of our community, we persevered, ensuring that no one was left behind.
The report also highlights the invaluable contributions of our partners. When municipal leaders stepped up to cover additional costs and grassroots efforts like the Emergency Fund pilot provided crucial support, we witnessed the power of unity in action. Together, we made a tangible difference in the lives of those who needed it most.
As we move forward, let us remember the lessons of 2023 – that by coming together, we can overcome any challenge.
