Volunteers bring joy to the lives of our clients every day. They are an important part of how we make every lodge home-like, while allowing us to offer more support, care and daily activities. Our volunteers give more than their time and talents. They bring fresh energy and ideas to remind our clients they are part of a community that cares. Our volunteer program could expand your work experience, allow you to try new responsibilities, earn references for employment, and meet new friends.
Volunteer opportunities vary depending upon the community and the current needs. Sometimes the Westwinds Communities identifies a need, and sometimes a volunteer steps forward with an idea. Family members, students, service groups, friends, church and youth groups are just some of the many people who choose to get involved. Some volunteers provide specialized skills and services, while others come regularly to do what needs to get done. Volunteers love the connection they have with clients and staff and the difference they make in the lives of our residents every day. Volunteer opportunities could include outings, entertainment, crafts, games, social events, music, religion, shopping, gardening, decorating, reading, computer literacy, discussion groups, exercise and one to one support to name a few.
Our volunteers become part of our family. We offer casual or regular opportunities to best meet your needs. Volunteers meet with our recreation team to ensure we are able to find something interesting for you to help with, and to complete appropriate security and safety checks. We want you to get as much out of the time and energy you spend with us, as our clients do. We are pleased to offer letters describing the contributions you’ve made to fulfill academic, work or other volunteer requirements.
